Attorney Walter GalasWalter A. Galas, Jr. has been an attorney since 1994, practicing in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He has recently rejoined Stevenson & Lynch, P.C. after spending the past eight years working for insurance companies and their insureds in civil litigation defense. His varied legal experience as well as his background in litigation is valuable to the Clients of Stevenson & Lynch, P.C.

Walter graduated from Providence College (B.A. 1991) and the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America (J.D. 1994). He was admitted to the Rhode Island bar in 1994 and the Massachusetts bar in 1995. He is also admitted to practice before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal District Courts in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Walter initially worked at Stevenson & Lynch, P.C. from 1995 through 2001. At that time, he concentrated his practice in a wide variety of legal areas including domestic relations, probate, contracts, collection, real estate and bankruptcy.

From 2001 to 2009, Walter worked as a Trial Counsel for insurance defense firms, as both in-house and outside counsel. In this capacity, he defended individuals and companies in personal injury cases in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The cases included both automobile accident cases and premises liability claims. He was lead counsel on dozens of cases tried before judges or juries. He also frequently handled cases resolved through arbitration. His practice also included the defense of insurance companies in M.G.L. c. 93A/176D bad faith claims.

Because he spent many years defending claims and working closely with insurance companies, Walter knows how they view and handle claims. He uses this knowledge to help his current personal injury clients get fully reimbursed for the injuries and damages they have suffered from the negligence of another.

In 2009, Walter was elected to a three-year term as the Town Moderator in the Town of Easton, Massachusetts.

Walter now concentrates his practice in the areas of domestic relations, personal injury, real estate, probate, contracts, and general litigation.
